Memorandum of cooperation between the Faculty of Education, Comenius University Bratislava and Special Olympics Slovakia

Abstract

Faculty of Education of Comenius University Bratislava, represented by its Dean prof. PaedDr. Katarína Žilková, PhD. signed on 16 June 2025 a memorandum of mutual cooperation with the national sports organization Special Olympics Slovakia, represented by the national director Mgr. Eva Gažová, president Ing. Dominika Nestarcová, sports director Mgr. Martina Gogolová and international relations director Ing. Veronika Sedláčková. As it is published on the faculty's website, the memorandum declares the common interest of both parties to develop the practical part of education in the field of work methods with people with intellectual disabilities, to promote volunteering and to implement joint professional or sport events. The agreement also includes the creation of opportunities for students of the faculty to engage in teaching practice through assistantships, trainings, competitions or research activities. We believe that this initiative will contribute to building an inclusive society in which people with intellectual disabilities will have more opportunities for personal and sporting development, and that faculty students will thus gain valuable experience for their professional life.
