Flaubert et cinéma indien : transfert culturel

Abstrakt

The present article is an attempt at understanding the cultural transformation through which Indian cinema has passed argues that cultural transformation has been influenced particularly by Flaubert’s masterwork Madame Bovary. It also focuses on India’s postindependence period of transformation where a new women-centric cinema based on Madame Bovary seems to appear against the backdrop of conventional Indian cinema. Some important feminist films like Ankur (Le semis, 1974) Charulata (Femme solitaire, 1964) et Maya Memsaab (Maya: L’illusion enchanteresse,1993) and have been discussed in this article to have a synoptic view of Indian cinema influenced by Flaubert’s Madame Bovary. In short, an attempt has been made to present a cultural transformation from the point of view of Indian feminist cinema influenced by Gustave Flaubert.
