The Position and Presence of Rhematizers in the Contrastive Perspective: An Analysis of Translated Texts (Czech and Spanish)
Keywords:
focus particles, rhematizers, translated texts, corpus analysisAbstract
This contribution is focused on the comparison of focus particles in Spanish and Czech. Firstly, some conceptual asymmetries between the Czech and Spanish linguistic conceptions of focus particles are presented. Then, on the basis of the case of the Czech particle alespoň (al menos, por lo menos in Spanish), the positional differences are pointed out, and consequently the insertion or omission in the translation are discussed. It is also pointed out that there are some relatively apparent tendencies: namely the tendency to omit the particles and to extend their operative scope in translations into Spanish, and the tendency to insert them and restrict the operational scope of particle in translations into Czech.
