Interest in physical activities and motives for participate in sports among students from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Comenius University Bratislava

Abstract

In the article, the authors focused on the issue of lifestyle of female and male students of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Comenius University in Bratislava (FaF UK). The authors focused on the relationship of female and male students to physical activity performed in their free time from various aspects. The research group consisted of 1093 respondents (898 girls and 195 boys) with an average age of 19.25 + 0.93 years. Empirical data were obtained using an ad hoc questionnaire. The obtained results were interpreted at the level of percentage analysis. The students at the Fpharm CU engage in physical activity in their free time mostly on a recreational level. In terms of dominant physical activities, hiking was in first place, followed by running, cycling, walking and skating. They mentioned lack of time reason why they did not play sports. On the other hand, health and body weight correction were found among primary reasons for which the students would include physical activity in their daily or weekly regime.
