Hungarian Tennis Association in Czechoslovakia

Abstract

In the interwar period, sports in Czechoslovakia were organized on the ethnic basis. This model was not applied in individual sports according to a uniform template. At first, in case of tennis, it looked like a combined form would be used - national in Bohemia and Moravia and territorial in Slovakia and Subcarpathian Russia. This was also signaled by the first county organization CsLTA. Finally, the national model of tennis organization was applied throughout Czechoslovakia. Initially, Hungarian clubs were dominant in Slovakia not only organizationally but also by results. With the establishment of Czechoslovak and Jewish sports clubs, this ratio has changed gradually. Representatives of CsMTeSz were aware of this change and therefore focused on youth work, but also paid attention to the area of coaching qualifications. In the case of CsMTeSz, this effort was mostly pronounced in the easternmost part of Czechoslovakia.
