Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the level of basic motor competences of boys and girls of the first grade of primary school with track and field training using the MOBAK 1-2 test battery. We conducted a twogroup, interindividual ex post facto research. The research groups consisted of girls (n = 9) and boys (n = 8) in grades 1 and 2 of primary school. We hypothesized that the level of basic motor competencies (object movement and self-movement) would improve at a statistically significant level over the course of the year due to an allround training using track and field means. Using Wilcoxon's t-test, the hypotheses expressed were confirmed. We further hypothesized that the level of basic motor competencies at both entry and exit testing would be at the same level for both boys and girls. Using the Mann-Whitney U test, our hypotheses were confirmed except for one.
