The Political Rhetoric in the Age of Media Globalization
Abstract
The contribution analyzes the stylistic modes of political discourse in the media age and, in particular, the phenomena of dysphemism, observable both in Italy and Slovakia. The advent of a new communication strategy, based on the unscrupulous use of vulgarities and invectives, amplified by new media, contributes to the polarization of society in the technological civilization, generating a sense of fatigue and distrust among citizens towards politics. We focused on the phenomenon of the degradation of language that accompanies the emergence of a new informal communicative style in political messaging, characterized by distinctly colloquial modes that often cross into obscene language, raising serious questions about political ethics in the era of media globalization.
