Les transferts culturels dans l’œuvre de Dany Laferrière
Abstrakt
The article “Cultural transfers in the work of Dany Laferrière” is intended to be an analysis of Japanese motives in the work of the Quebec author of Haitian origin. Since his first novel, Laferrière has paid specific attention to Japan and the Japanese. The second novel, Éroshima, is fully oriented towards the Japanese theme linking the explosion of the atomic bomb which destroyed Hiroshima to the erotic symbols of the post-war period. His 2008 novel Je suis un écrivain japonais [I am a Japanese writer] develops his connection to Japan in a playful way. Always inspired by Japanese haiku poets, Laferrière recently published a drawn book Sur la route avec Bashô [On the Road with Basho]. The life of this 17th century poet, but also the poetic form of haiku, influenced even Laferrière’s style. It is possible to identify this impact in the versified novels Chronique de la dérive douce [Chronicle of Soft Drift] and L’Énigme du retour [The Enigma of the Return] as well as in the composition of Éroshima.
