Gastronomic realia of Spanish origin in Hungarian
Abstract
The objective of this article is to show the influence of Spanish language on Hungarian, presenting the Spanish realia that appeared in the last 3-4 decades in a particular segment of the lexicon, the language of gastronomy. These elements have cultural connotations, so their translation and interpretation is a challenge. The study is based on an exploratory work of these relatively recent Spanish cultural referents in the Hungarian lexicon. The corpus of the analysis is made up of Hungarian online texts, interviews, blogs and web pages because the terms examined are generally not found in dictionaries due to their recent incorporation into the Hungarian language.
