The formation of nomina instrumenti through derivation with suffixes. Spanish-Romanian contrastive analysis
Abstract
In this work we study the linguistic unities that constitute the nomina instrumenti, with the purpose of discovering the process of word formation in both romance languages, Castilian and Romanian, in the 16th and 17th centuries. Consequently, our narrow project aims to investigate the nominal class of instruments by identifying and defining the derivative suffixes according to their etymons. From the Latin suffixes with specific instrumental meaning to the lexical unities in Castilian and Romanian, the main realization will be to reach and understand the Latin heritage in these selected Romance languages.
