Abstract

This article analyses and classifies the differences in the use of toponyms in Slovak and Spanish on phonic, graphic, grammatical, and semantic levels. There are evident patterns due to the mechanisms of adaptation. The level of exonymization correlates with the proximity and historical contacts between the recipient language and the language of origin.
