Literature, still a topical tool in teaching FLE
Abstract
Based on a diachronic view of the presence of literature in French language methods and in line with current research in the field of literature teaching, this paper aims to reflect on new possibilities of studying and understanding literary texts aimed at developing, above all, the intercultural competence of learners. In the current training programs for future FLE teachers, knowledge of French literature is transmitted to students in innovative ways, which inevitably conveys a new, different experience of creative reading and interpretation with the aim to capture students’ attention by means of literature and thus to lead them to develop the language and intercultural skills crucial in the 21st century, defined, for example, by the European Commission.
