Abstract

My aim is to observe within two Spanish-Hungarian dictionaries how words that indicate typical Spanish objects or concepts are translated into Hungarian. According to the semantic category of the word, there are different solutions in the dictionaries: the same Spanish word can appear in Hungarian, and it is possible to give a unique Hungarian word or an explanation. The explanation may explicitly contain a mention that the object or concept is typical of Spain. The dictionary can have typographic solutions in order to indicate some special condition of the meaning of the word. The two dictionaries can present different solutions. At the end of my text, I will observe whether the same words appear like translations in the target language in two Hungarian-Spanish dictionaries.
