Abstract

The study analyses various simultaneous interpreting issues within the Italian and Slovak frameworks and underlines the influences of different types of interpreted texts, situational contexts, and communication acts on the interpreter and the output of his work. The author also examines the influence of culture and cultural awareness on the interpreting performance. It was confirmed that texts that have excessive redundancy and deal with topics known to the interpreter allow him or her to use suitable strategies. Finally, a rhetorical style which is characteristic for the Italian language and culture is very difficult to be maintained in Slovak interpreted texts.
