Alexandru Vona. Misterul de la capătul lumii e aici
Abstrakt
Alberto Henrique Samuel Bejar y Mayor (1922-2004), known professionally as Alexandru Vona, was one of the most interesting practitioners of Romanian literature. Exiled in the Occident, he did not manage to publish his novel The Bricked-Up Walls in Paris. The book was published only in 1993, but its international success is impressive: the “Premio Unión Latina de Lenguas Romances” Ě1995ě opens the door to an international career. Unfortunately, Vona is more famous in Spain and many other countries than in Romania, his home country. The Bricked-Up Walls has a mysterious ability to captivate the reader in the world of the book. As if he would close all windows and be alone, preferring to stay in the reality of fiction. There are few Romanian books of this quality. The novel can be imagined as a Rubik’s cube with windows. They always open and close according to an indecipherable logic. Maybe everything is just a dream. And it is such a real one that it covers the entire reality. The real intrigue of The Bricked-Up Walls builds up the world
