Keywords:

The study is focused on cognitive linguistics, i.e., the conceptualization of reality. We present the position of the wolf and the hare in the linguistic conception of the world of the Spaniards and the Poles. We showcase the connotations associated with the animals, in which context they are used, and what we express by using them based on the examples sourced from phraseology and paremiology. Moreover, it is interesting to note that animalistic vocabulary is used to describe human beings as well as our traits and behaviours; in consequence, we examine the relationship between humankind and the aforementioned animals.
