Echoes of the Pomeran Slav's culture in the scientific poetry of M.V. Lomonosov: The Attempt of ethnographic commentary

Abstract

The analysis of the ode "To Emperor Peter Feodorovich on his accession to the throne and on the New Year 1762" by M.V. Lomonosov from the perspective of Slavic-Germanic contacts and national identity in the Slavic world points to Lomonosov's effort to prove the Slavic origin of the Varangians in Novgorod and to deny their Scandinavian origin, as well as his effort to identify the remains of Slavic culture in northern Germany.
