Slawistische Aspekte beim Studium der slowakichen Volksmärchen
Abstract
History of Slavic Ethnology.
Almost a hundred years ago, Jiří Polívka, in one of his reviews of the ethnographic work “Czechoslavs”, expressed a demand that still resonates in the current social and political context. In his opinion, our ethnographers should always keep in mind that the Czech people – and he undoubtedly also meant the Slovaks – are not only a Slavic nation, but also a distinctly Central European one. In Warsaw in 1973, a demand arose that in Slavic research, relations with non-Slavic nations should also be examined. The author pointed out the similarity of Slovak fairy tales with Western ones when it comes to magical fairy tales. She further points out the links with Hungarian fairy tales, and in the following sections moves on to Slovak-Polish, Slovak-Czech and Slovak-Ukrainian relations.
