Ethniche Gemeinschaften und ethnische Prozesse auf dem Balkan im Werke Konstantin Jireček
Abstract
History of Slavic Ethnology.
Konštantín Jireček, the founder of Balkan studies, addressed ethnic issues of antiquity and the Middle Ages within the entire Balkan Peninsula, primarily based on the study of archival sources. He processed modern issues only within Bulgaria. He emphasized the geographical spread of ethnic groups. The ethnic perspective also largely determined Jireček's interest in folk culture.
The author confronts Jireček's conclusions with current scientific knowledge about ethnogenesis and other ethnic issues.
