Abstract

Significance of the history of science for discipline existence.

While in the eighties of the 20th century the historians and philosophers of the history of science noted ascending level and a rise in number of works on the history of science - articles, proceedings, monographs or personal memories, nowadays we often feel as if not only the public but also a large part of the scholarly community looked just through the prism of the presence towards the future, and a view back, at the history and history of some disciplines, does not seem to be „in“! Which is, in my opinion, unusually short-sighted and narrow-minded.
