Mytho-magical structure of disasters
Abstract
This paper addresses two tragic events that took place in 2010: the crash of Poland’s presidential airplane and the flood that occurred shortly thereafter.
It is important to note that while the second event, the flood, remains little more than a distant bad memory in Polish society, even though it continues to affect its victims to this day, the plane crash continues to be the centrepiece of a debate that far exceeds myth-making.
