Abstrakt

This article presents the results of the research of four inchoative periphrasis in Spanish on a sample of six contemporary literary texts, which were compared with their official Czech translations. The aim was to find out what means were used in the translation and to what extent the structural parallelism existing between Spanish and Czech was used at the level of phase periphrastic constructions, especially the construction: phase verbs comenzar a, echarse a, empezar a, ponerse a + infinitive. In Czech, there is a compound predicate, which is formed by a phase verb, which indicates the beginning of the action, and the infinitive of a full verb (začít/začínat + infinitive). In addition to this construction, the Czech language also has other devices that express the initial phase of the action. By comparing the original texts with their Czech translations, it was found that structural parallelism was used in 68% of cases. The initial phase was also expressed non-periphrastically, namely by autonomous verbal lexemes or word-forming means - verbal prefixes, syntactic constructions with ingressive and inchoative verbs or particles appeared.
